Course Summary

Our Accounting and Finance degree concentrates on the practical applications of accounting and finance theories, boosting your employability by developing you as a business-ready graduate. • Work-based learning - from case studies, problem-solving to work placement opportunities - ensure graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet current and future market needs. • Graduates will be eligible for exemption for some ACCA and AIA examination papers. • Graduates of this programme are eligible for Associate (AFA) level membership. • All our graduating students will also achieve a level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Leadership & Management from the Chartered Management Institute worth over £1,300 at no extra cost. • All of our lecturers are professionally qualified in Accounting or Finance. • Work placement opportunities are available to all of our students who demonstrate a good standard of engagement and professionalism during their studies. • Depending on the modules chosen, graduates will be eligible for exemption for up to six ACCA examination papers (F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F9) and up to six AIA examination papers (Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3, Paper 4, Paper 6 and Paper 8). In addition, graduates of this programme are eligible for Associate (AFA) level membership. • As our degrees are accredited by the CMI, all our graduating students will also receive a level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Leadership & Management from the CMI worth over £1,300 at no additional expense. Course Details - Modules

YEAR 1 (LEVEL 4) Although you will study core business and marketing modules in year one, we quickly enable you to focus on accounting and finance topics. You will study economics, financial and data analytics and an introduction to financial markets. In years two and three you will specialise in either accounting or finance and your module options will offer significant depth of expertise. We will introduce business practitioners into your learning schedule who will provide an insight into the real-life situations and challenges they encounter in the business world. As you develop, your confidence and awareness will grow and you will leave us ready to enter into business life. Course Details – Assessment Method

As part of our commitment to preparing our graduates for the professional workplace, we recognise the need to provide a variety of assessment methods that retain academic rigour, but also offer students opportunities to develop themselves in a variety of ways. Consequently, across most modules students will be assessed by methods such as traditional examination, oral examination, case study evaluation, presentations, blog writing and management report writing. TEACHING AND LEARNING Wrexham Glyndŵr University is committed to supporting our students to maximise their academic potential. We offer workshops and support sessions in areas such as academic writing, effective note-making and preparing for assignments.
