Course Summary

**Why Performing Arts (Level 6)?** Our Performing Arts degree enables you to build practical techniques and theoretical knowledge in singing, dancing and acting. Optional modules allow you to focus on your own particular passions and ambitions, with the chance to study aspects of theatre such as choreography, business development and digital theatre. With the chance to gain experience working in settings including Cheltenham's Everyman and Playhouse theatres, as well as at venues like the Wilson Art Gallery and the National Trust’s Croome Court, our graduates stand out from the competition. They can even perform at the internationally-renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe and have been to New York for workshops with Broadway actors and directors (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details). You’ll draw on the expertise of experienced professionals as you develop acting techniques for the stage, strengthen your voice and take dance lessons in forms including ballet, tap, modern and jazz. There is also a unique opportunity to achieve dance awards through the internationally recognised Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and gain professional qualifications while you study. Learning in our purpose-built performing arts centre, you’ll take advantage of state-of-the-art facilities including drama and dance studios with full lighting rigs, a multimedia theatre studio and an acoustically designed music and singing room. **Why University of Gloucestershire?** We’ve been using our expertise to support and inspire students since 1847. Join us and you will benefit from professional-standard facilities in the beautiful, historic surroundings of Cheltenham and Gloucester. Our vibrant and tight-knit community of over 10,000 students and staff paired with a wide variety of courses means you will have the best of both worlds – a diverse community of sports clubs, societies and activities while also benefiting from specialist lecturers who value you as an individual. Who Cares? We do. We care about our students and the planet. We listened to what our students value most, turning our prospectus digital and providing opportunities for them to protect the planet and move on to study in an environment that works hard to support future generations. As a result, we’re proud that the University of Gloucestershire has been judged the UK’s most sustainable university. Our students never tire of finding inspiration here in the dynamic county of Gloucestershire, home to over 45 festivals every year, including 2000trees, Wychwood and the world-famous Cheltenham Literature festival. Many students gain valuable skills and experience working at these events alongside their studies. **After the course** Your story with us doesn’t end at graduation. Through our innovative Your Future Plan scheme, you will be supported to become the graduate that you want to be, making industry connections and taking part in placements and field trips that offer invaluable experience outside of the lecture theatre. We are proud of our record that 93% of University of Gloucestershire graduates are in work or further study six months after completing their course*. *UK Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020. **Experience an open day** Book yourself a place at a University of Gloucestershire open day at www.glos.ac.uk/BookAnOpenDay. Our open days have been designed to inform you, inspire you, and help you make the right decision about your next step. It’s your chance to see the university for yourself, get a real insight into what we're about and meet your potential course tutors and lecturers.
