Construction managers are based both on site and in the office and are expected to work with a wide range of people, from architects to construction workers.
This programme covers a wide variety of technical, financial and planning aspects in theory and practice, using both traditional and online teaching methods. Most construction management graduates in Scotland have trained at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Industry experts give guest lectures and in Year 3 there are opportunities to spend six months on a work placement with a construction organisation. There are also opportunities to study abroad, in Europe, Australia and the USA, and there are scholarships for study and internship tours in the Middle East.
The programme is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Graduates have gone on to work for major companies such as Lend Lease, BAM Construction, Clark Contracts, McLaughlin and Harvey, Sir Robert McAlpine, Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Barr Construction, Persimmon Homes and Ogilvie Construction.
