Acquisition of knowledge is mainly supported through lectures and directed learning. The role of directed learning increases as the course progresses. Understanding is reinforced through practical, tutorial and seminar work. This may involve a series of small exercises, extended case studies or discussions. HNC Mechanical and Computer Aided Engineering requires 120 credits including a minimum of 40 at Level 5 or above. 120 UCAS tariff points at A Level within an appropriate subject Or BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, with at least a Merit in six modules including both Further Maths and an appropriate Mechanical science based module. OR An alternative equivalent qualification in an appropriate subject at the appropriate level to be determined via interview. AND 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English Qualifications equivalent to the above. Key skills in Mathematics level 2 will be accepted as an alternative for GCSE Mathematics Key skills in Communication level 2 will be accepted as an alternative for GCSE English
