Working in sport is a great choice according to EMSI, by 2022 the number of those working as sports professionals is expected to have grown by 10%, compared with 2014. During this programme you will apply theoretical and practical knowledge within a variety of injury and rehabilitation units. One of the added benefits of this programme is the opportunity to gain extra qualifications as well as your degree, including Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and Sports Therapy Association (STA) qualifications.
At Farnborough, you will study the fundamentals of sport science including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and nutrition which will give you an in-depth understanding of how the human body works and operates within an elite sporting context.
Our lecturing team come from various backgrounds in sport including sport psychology and strength and conditioning coaching. You will be able to use their combined experience to give you a great introduction into the industry. You will also have access to our professional equipment including functional movement screening, taping and strapping and a rehabilitation gym.
**WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?**
This degree is for those with a passion to study sport and further your skills ready to enter the popular sporting industry. You might be currently studying a Level 3, A Level or Access to Higher Education course or be returning to education after a break or wish to transfer from another higher education institution. It may also be possible for you to join this course in its second or third year following relevant qualifications and/or experience in the workplace.
**WHAT WILL I STUDY?**
The first year of this degree will introduce you to practical skills, such as sports massage and functional movement, while focusing on the theory behind human anatomy and physiology. In your second year you will explore diagnostics and injury management, advanced sports massage techniques and personal training. To provide you with the skills needed to succeed in industry, you will be taught sport therapy business and entrepreneurship, and undertake a work placement in your third year to gain vital on-the-job experience.
