You'll graduate with the skills you need to become a freelance practitioner or step into an in-house role, working with teams from a variety of backgrounds.
You will:
Gain skills in fashion styling and creative direction from commercial to high-end conceptual fashion applications.
Develop a knowledge and understanding of the entire fashion styling process, including a history of fashion and exploring the way that different cultural themes and issues are materialised in clothing and trends.
Learn how to become a confident leader – managing teams and the expectations of senior crew and talent.
Learn self-management skills, such as budget control, scheduling and personal financial management as a freelance practitioner.
Have access to facilities, such as industrial sewing machines and specialist construction equipment, our dye lab and our dress and textile archive, containing costume pieces from contemporary history.

Throughout this course you’ll develop the knowledge, practical skills and professional understanding to launch a successful career in fashion styling. You’ll explore the entire fashion styling process, work on live briefs with multi-skilled teams and examine the cultural, ethical and historical contexts of the global fashion industry.
Year One:
Year one is all about building a solid foundation for your degree and your future career. You’ll gain an understanding of diversity, equality and sustainability within the global styling industry; explore and analyse the contexts and uses of personal style and sharpen your research skills to enable you to develop designed responses to styling treatments. You’ll also get to work on real projects and collaborate with students across the University.

In the second year, you’ll further explore industry processes and practices across the fashion styling spectrum, from commercial to high-end conceptual fashion. We welcome A Levels in a wide range of subjects, especially in those relevant to the course for which you apply.
A typical offer is between 104 and 120 UCAS points, primarily from Level 3 equivalent qualifications, such as A levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma or a Foundation Diploma, or current, relevant experience. Grade 4 (or C) or above in GCSE English Language, or equivalent, is a minimum language requirement for all applicants. Due to the creative nature of our courses, you will be considered on your own individual merit and potential to succeed on your chosen course.
