Course Summary

The BSc Economics and Finance explores modern economics and its application to financial systems and organisations. It introduces advanced financial techniques such as derivatives pricing, risk management and portfolio management. This programme will also develop your ability to critically analyse economic events and their impact on financial markets. The programme will enable you to can become involved with FEELE, our research centre for experimental economics, which involves participating in practical experiments that test theories of financial behaviour. Our graduates find employment with financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, pension funds, investment and unit trusts, as well as stock-broking and financial advisory work. This programme aims to provide a theoretical background of relevance if you wish to follow a career in finance. The programme is also an excellent foundation for postgraduate study in finance and economics.

Pass the Access to HE Diploma with 30 L3 credits at Distinction grade and 15 L3 credits at Merit grade. To include 12 L3 credits at Merit Grade in an acceptable Mathematics subject area. Please also see our GCSE requirements.
