Course Summary

The Football Coaching and Development Foundation Degree is a two year full time course which will enhance your ability to apply the theoretical concepts of coaching and development in the world of football. This is a very exciting course that offers a broad range of modules including Football Development in the community, Applying Science to the Game and An Introduction to Performance Analysis. All the modules have been specifically designed to help amplify employability opportunities post completion of the course. The course includes a work placement module to provide learners with the opportunity to practically apply their extensive knowledge base gained throughout the course. In addition to the course, opportunities will be provided to help maximise the learners ability to apply their skills developed in the world of football coaching. The course runs in partnership with Exeter City Football Club, utilising their extensive knowledge of Football Coaching and Development from their community enhancement to their elite performance programme. Football Coaching and Development provides a platform for a variety of careers in rapidly expanding industries. The course encompasses learners gaining valuable experiences and work placements within the football coaching and development environment which can lead directly in to full time employment. Other opportunities include progressing on to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Coach and Fitness Education, BSc (Hons) Coach and Physical Education or the BA (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching degrees at the University of St Mark & St John. Additional Inclusive Qualifications: In conjunction with the programme, further relative qualifications are available, including Futsal Level 1, FA Level 1 and 2 coaching courses, FA Youth Awards (Module 1 and 2), and ISSA Street Soccer Level 1.

The programme is delivered by a combination of lectures, seminars, practical sessions, lab sessions and group work. The majority of the programme is assessed through course work which will take the form of written reports, presentations, practical sessions, case studies and seminars. There are some timed assessments and examinations.
