Some of the most fundamental questions about political life, its principles and ideals, are philosophical in character. Is it moral to go to war, or is it a necessity? What ethical implications are there in politics? What is the meaning of life? What are our fundamental rights? These are some of the key questions we consider. You'll be taught by academics in our School of Philosophy and Art History, all of whom are open-minded and have an exceptionally broad range of research interests. We have particular strengths in the areas of ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of religion, and European philosophy (including critical theory, phenomenology, and existentialism) - meaning you'll gain a thorough grounding in how philosophy and politics intertwined. You'll also be taught by our politics academics, some of who are renowned for their work advising the CIA on counter-terrorism and commentating on political events in national international media. You spend your third year studying abroad allowing you to experience other cultures and languages, to broaden your degree socially and academically, and to demonstrate to employers that you are mature, adaptable, and organised.
