Our BA Philosophy and History (including foundation year) is suitable for you if your academic qualifications do not yet meet our entrance requirements for an undergraduate course. This four-year course includes a foundation year (Year Zero), followed by a further three years of undergraduate study. Our compulsory academic skills module supplements your academic subjects. Combining Philosophy and History is the opportunity to understand how knowledge, ideas and myth has developed throughout history. Studying topics like the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment will aid your understanding of how people in the early modern period perceived life and death, science and religion, and reality and imagination. You cover ancient philosophy including the work of Plato and Aristotle through to modern theories of ethics, to understand how knowledge has evolved and progressed in science, religion, politics and every day life.
