At Essex we challenge injustice. Our Human Rights Centre is a recognised international leader in human rights and our academics actively work with the UN, governments, human rights organisations and NGOs all over the world.
Our LLB Law with Human Rights develops your critical awareness of the nature of law within its social, political, sociological, philosophical, economic and historical contexts. As a law and human rights student, not only will you learn legal rules, but you will also consider the function of law in society, the philosophy of law, policy issues and law reform.
Our Law and Human Rights Clinics offer you the opportunity to offer advice to real-life clients, giving you the edge in a competitive graduate job market. You can also immerse yourself in many of the extra curricular activities that our School of Law offers – improve your mooting and client interviewing skills in competitions, join our law society and take advantage of networking opportunities throughout the year with visiting firms.
You spend your third year on a placement gaining relevant work experience within an external business or organisation, giving you a competitive edge in the graduate job market and providing you with key contacts within the industry.
