The region's television, film and literature, in particular, attract global critical acclaim. **Scandinavian Studies** This programme offers you the opportunity to study the English language alongside modern Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, as well as Scandinavian culture, past and present. A highlight of this programme is the year abroad in Year 3, which you'll spend studying, teaching or working in a Scandinavian country. **English Language** The study of English Language focuses on developing your knowledge and understanding of: * the principles of theoretical linguistics * the way we learn language * the regional and social variations of language in general (and of the English language in particular) * methods of communication You can also opt to study Scots language, which has its own rich linguistic and literary tradition.
