As a student at ARU Peterborough, you’ll use applied mathematics, statistics, and computing to explore and analyse complex datasets – and to solve practical, real-world problems.
We incorporate genuine datasets and industry-simulated projects into our modules, so that you gain a thorough understanding of the challenges and constraints that businesses face. You’ll be able to craft your skills and expertise accordingly, and graduate ready to work in the fast-moving field of data science.
Our Data and Analytical Science degree features a mix of lectures, tutorials, demos and practical sessions. You’ll use our specialist AI labs for practical work, which feature industry-standard software and tools.
The course will take you, step by step, through the major building blocks of data science. Along the way, you’ll gain advanced technical skills, such as data acquisition and cleaning, data analysis and feature extraction, data visualization, data mining and machine learning.
You’ll also acquire important research skills and conduct an end-to-end data science project in your final year.
Throughout the course you’ll find there’s an emphasis on developing important transferable skills, such as problem-solving sand team working. And you can choose to enhance your employability even further, with an optional placement year in industry.
